    RALPH AND EDNA


    Ralph and Edna were lovers and patients at Bellevue, a mental hospital. One night
    they secretly met at the hospital swimming pool and suddenly Ralph jumped into
    the deep end of the pool and sank like a rock. Without hesitation Edna dove in the
    pool, swam to the bottom, pulled Ralph out, gave him first aid and saved his life!
    When the director of the hospital heard about Edna's brave act from the staff she
    decided to discharge her, having determined she was now mentally stable.

    The director personally went to Edna and said, "I have good news, and some bad
    news Edna. The good news is I am discharging you from the hospital! You were
    able to rationally respond to an emergency and save the life of another person.
    The bad news is Ralph hung himself in the shower room with his bathrobe belt after
    you saved him".

    Edna looked at the director and said, "Ralph didn't hang himself. I hung him up so
    he could dry. When can I go home"?
